Puppy Kindergarten
For: Young puppies age 8 to 16 weeks of age
Class limit: 6
Duration: 4 weeks
Cost: $65
Puppy Kindergarten is a class for puppies 8-16 weeks of age (puppies must be under 16 weeks at start of class). Groups are divided based on age, size and temperament for optimal socialization experience. Instruction focuses on socialization with people and dogs, fine tuning potty training and crate training, conditioning for handling and nail trims, confidence building exercises, how to handle puppy play biting and teething, loose leash walking, basic manners and boundaries training, leadership lessons and beginner commands including: name, sit, down, stand, come, drop it, and beginner stay (puppy pause). Classes are an hour long and cost includes the book “Puppy Primer” by Patricia McConnell, Ph.D. Continuing students get $10 discount upon completion of a previous puppy class taken at See Spot Run on 21.

Elementary Pups
For: Adolescent puppies, age approximately 5 to 10 months
Class limit: 6
Duration: 6 weeks
Cost: $105
This class is for young adolescent puppies age approximately 5 months to 10 months. Puppies MUST be friendly with other dogs. Instruction for this class focuses on how to keep an adolescent dog out of trouble through incorporating training into your dog’s daily routine and begin to correct current training issues, improve communication with your pup and begin to develop a well mannered adult dog. Basic commands taught include sit, down, stay, come, wait, off, leave it, take it, drop it, polite leash walking, attention training, impulse control, leadership skills, and an introduction to tricks, games, and dog sports. Continuing students get a $10 discount upon completion of a previous puppy class taken at See Spot Run. Cost includes the book “Family Friendly Dog Training” by Patricia McConnell, Ph.D.

Mind Your Manners
For: Any dog over the age of 10 months
Class limit: 6
Duration: 6 weeks

This class is for any dog over the age of 10 months. Instruction in this class focuses on basic commands needed for a well-mannered companion dog. Commands taught include: sit, down, come, stay, leave it, take it, drop it, wait, fetch, loose leash polite walking, polite greetings(off), attention training, leadership skills, impulse control exercises, and an introduction to tricks, games, and dog sports. You will learn how to make a schedule for your dog that helps him “have a job” and stay out of trouble! Continuing dogs get a $10 discount upon completion of a previous class taken at See Spot Run. Includes the book “Family Friendly Dog Training” by Patricia McConnell, Ph.D.

Introduction to Agility/Obstacles
Prerequisite: Puppy or Basic Obedience or equivalent with intstructor's permission
Class limit: 6

Dog agility is currently the fastest growing dog sport in the world! This class offers you and your dog the chance to begin to explore the sport in a fun and safe environment. Dogs will learn new commands that increase attention and listening skills and will focus on individual obstacle performance in a positive way which builds confidence. Classes are one hour long.

Beginning Sequences/Agility 2
Prerequisite: Introduction to Agility at See Spot Run on 21 or equivalent with instructor’s permission
Class limit: 6
Duration: 6 weeks
Cost: $120
In this level 2 class for dogs one year and older, go beyond the basics and begin to work your dog with consistency on the various agility obstacles. Focus will be on both the dog’s ability and the handler’s signals and footwork. Participants will begin to work on short sequences and some work may be done off leash. Classes are one hour long.

Agility 3
Prerequisite: Agility 2 at See Spot Run on 21 or equivalent with instructor’s permission
Class limit: 6
Duration: 6 weeks
Cost: $120
In this level 3 class, dogs will work to become confident and reliable on all 13 obstacles at full height. Dogs will work mainly off leash and perform longer sequences. After completing this 6 week class, students will be prepared to begin working their dogs through a full agility course (Agility 4 offered Spring through Fall 2011). Classes are one hour long.

Agility 4

Class limit: 6
Duration: 6 weeks

In this level 4 class, dogs will work on full height equipment through Novice style courses with increased distractions. Students will also work on reinforcing weave poll performance. Classes will be held outdoors (weather permitting). The pre-requisite for this class is Agility 3 or equivalent. Classes are one hour long.

Agility 5
Prerequisite: Agility 4 at See Spot Run on 21 or equivalent with instructor’s permission
Class limit: 6

In level 5, class handlers will be introduced to more challenging handling such as pinwheels and 180's. Students will continue to work on mastering Novice agility courses and work on excercises geared to test the skills they have aquired. Class limit is 6 and runs for 6 weeks. Cost is $120 and classes are one hour long.

Therapy Dog
Class limit: 6
Duration: 4 weeks
Cost: $75
This four-week class focuses on assessing dogs for therapy work suitability. The class is open to dogs of all ages, but in order to be tested, dogs must be at least one year of age. The instructor measures each dog's social ability, accepting attention from strangers and control around other dogs. Canine students will also be socialized to mobility equipment such as walkers, wheelchairs, canes and crutches. At the end of the four-week class, students who pass will be given the opportunity to be tested and become members of Therapy Dogs, Incoroporated (a membership fee does apply).

Canine Good Citizens
Class limit: 6
Duration: 6 weeks
Cost: $120
This class prepares owners and their dogs to take the AKC Canine Good Citizen test. Each week a different portion of the test will be covered. Test items include the following: polite greetings with other dogs and strangers, allowing handling/grooming, walking on a loose leash, walking through a crowd, reaction to distraction, sit, down, stay, come, and tolerating separation from the owner. The final week of class participants will have the opportunity to complete the test. Classes are one hour long.

Novice Rally Obedience
Prerequisite: Basic Obedience

AKC Rally is a fast moving sport that involves asking your dog to obey different commands on a course. The commands revolve around the basic sits and downs and evolve into more complex commands as the difficulty level rises. In this course, we will study the basic novice signs and how to execute them with our dogs. As the class goes on, we’ll combine signs to form a course. Whether you want to compete or just play with your dog, this course will be fun for you and your dog! Prerequisite: Basic obedience (sit, down, stand on command and loose leash walking). This class runs 1 and a half hours per class for 4 weeks and the cost is $75.00. Taught by Barb Stanek CPDT-KA.

Nose Work Fun
Class limit: 5
Duration: 4 weeks
Cost: $75 (includes printed materials about Nose Work)
Nose Work is a new and upcoming dog sport that develops your dog's natural scenting abilities by using their desire to hunt and their love of toys, food and exercise. It will help to build your dog's confidence and also burn tons of mental and physical energy. Beginning nose work exercises are set up to motivate the dogs and encourage them to "find" a treat or toy. This class offers simple exercises where dogs search boxes for a favorite treat or toy. Eventually, dogs start searching through different objects with different distractions and become more confident and skilled. Work is done one dog at a time (dogs who are not working are crated or kenneled).

Nose Work Fun 2
Class limit: 5
Duration: 4 weeks

Nose Work develops your dog's natural scenting abilities by using their desire to hunt and their love of toys, food and exercise. This class offers continuing exercises that work towards building skill at finding the target in different environments, including outdoor search areas. The pre-requisite is Nose Work Fun Class (or equivalent taken at another facility). Classes are 1 hour long.

Nose Work Fun 3
Prerequisite: Nose Work 1 and 2 or equivalent
Class limit: 6
Duration: 4 weeks
Cost: $75
Nose Work 3 is for dogs and handlers who have successfully completed Nose Work 1 and 2 (or equivalent at another facility with instructor approval). Students will introduce their dogs to Birch, the first odor used in K9 Nose Work. This class advances the dog's scent discrimination skills and builds better dog/handler teamwork. Searches are performed in many different environments, but all work is done indoors. Classes are 1 hour long.

Tricks and Games
Prerequisite: Puppy or Basic obedience class at See Spot Run on 21 or equivalent
Class limit: 8

This four-week class is a fun addition to add to your dog’s training education. Learn how to teach your dog fun tricks and learn new games to play that build training skills and keep your dog motivated and stimulated! Classes are one hour long.

Intermediate
Prerequisite: Basic Obedience
Class limit: 6
Duration: 6 weeks
Cost: $120
This class digs deeper into dog training and behavior. Intermediate is great for dogs and owners who crave more of a challenge after completing a basic training class, or who seek perfection in the commands they wish their dog to master. Think of it as post-doggie high school education! Commands refined include: heel, stay (up to 5 minutes with distance and distraction), leave it, wait, take it/drop it, watch, polite greetings, and recall. Continuing dogs get a $10 discount upon completion of a previous class taken at See Spot Run on 21.
